This collection showcases wares fired in a community wood fired kiln. I work with local potters to fire one of three outdoor anagama kilns. This process takes many days including some to chop wood for the firing. To keep the fire going many cords of wood are required. The fire must be brought up to cone 12 slowly and then held there for 12 hours minimum to get he most out of the fire. The fire and combustions produce the color variations.
